Kirishima is well known throughout Japan due to its history
and songs written about Kirishima. In 1934, Kirishima was
established as Japan’s first National Park, and became a tourist,
farm, and hot spring town.
We have many sites and attractions in Kirishima. Kirishima
Jingu, the place that enshrines the hero of the mythology
of Japan, Nininomikoto. Shin-wa-no-sato Park, a place where
tourists can play and view Mt. Sakurajima that floats in Kinko
Bay. Opened on October 1998, Kami-no-yu hot spring center
provides an herbal bath to rest ones body. In September, enjoy
Kirishima Kagura, an ancient music and dance that tell Japan’s
mythology. Kirishima Kagura was revived in 1997 after 80 years
of absence and has brought tourism to its fullest.
Kirishima is beautiful all year round. The spring Nanohana
flowers, the summer Rhododendron kiusianum, the redden leaves
of autumn, and the snow covered trees of winter. Come and
enjoy the different flowers of the four seasons that awaits
you.
