/Kumen
On April 1, 1978 this artifact was designated as the town's
cultural asset.
300 years ago when Kirishima Jingu gave a dancing prayer
to the gods, these masks were used.
The Gigaku and the Sarutahiko are the major
masks for the dancing prayer. In the olden
days, a stonecutter named Ebiharagenzaimon
gave the performance.
There are nine masks for the gods. These masks are known
to give good financial luck. Because of this, many businessmen
come to observe these masks. Also, "Kumen" is used for store
names and merchandise names for good luck.
